Protection of Pierce Pond Watershed

Somerset County, Maine

Creative Conservation has coordinated the land conservation efforts of a land trust dedicated to preserving the 12,000-acre watershed surrounding Pierce Pond, a pristine remote pond valued by outdoors enthusiasts.  To date, the land trust has negotiated the donation and purchases of lands and conservation easements encompassing almost the entire watershed and miles of additional lakeshore and riverfront lands in the region.

Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands

Land Acquisitions throughout Maine

For many years, the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands has retained Creative Conservation, LLC’s services on numerous major public land acquisition initiatives throughout Maine including the West Branch of the Penobscot River and the Machias River.  Creative Conservation, LLC has coordinated all phases of the acquisitions including project development, partnerships with land trusts, landowner negotiations, appraisals and due diligence.  

Kennebec Highlands Project

Belgrade Lakes, Maine

Working on behalf of the local land trust, Creative Conservation, LLC coordinated land acquisition efforts for the 7,000-acre Kennebec Highlands project involving approximately 30 separate land acquisitions and assisted with raising over $3 million of public and private funds for the project.

Grafton Loop Trail

Oxford County, Maine

Working with a coalition of landowners, organizations and state agencies, Creative Conservation, LLC coordinated the development of a 42-mile hiking trail through the Mahoosuc Mountains.

Cobscook Bay Conservation

Pembroke, Maine

Creative Conservation, LLC assisted a coastal landowner seeking to protect a collection of lands located on a pristine cove in Cobscook Bay.  Creative Conservation, LLC coordinated the sale of 2.6 miles of shorefront to the local land trust and conservation easements on the retained family lands.

Porter Hills Project

Oxford County , Maine

Working with the local land trust,  Creative Conservation, LLC is establishing a new conservation area near the New Hampshire border. To date, six parcels of land have been secured including significant wetlands, high-value ecological sites and scenic mountain lookouts.

Windpower and Solar Power Project Mitigation

Western Maine

Creative Conservation, LLC has  assisted the developers of windpower and solar energy projects in creating mitigation projects leading to the companies’ protection of valued conservation lands.
